Barkha has Masters’ degrees in Clinical Psychology (University of Pune) and in Counselling Psychology (Texas Woman’s University, USA). Over the last 13 years, she has worked extensively in India and the US.

Barkha has Masters’ degrees in Clinical Psychology (University of Pune) and in Counselling Psychology (Texas Woman’s University, USA). Over the last 13 years, she has worked extensively in India and the US. In the US, she worked as a  staff counsellor with Denton County Friends of the Family working specifically with trauma, and also pioneered Project REV – Resources for Ending Violence, as a campus counsellor. In India, Barkha has headed the Counselling Department at Mercedes-Benz International School (Now MIS) for 8 years. She is the Founder Director of  Aks Foundation, which is an NGO that provides compassionate, comprehensive services to those impacted by Gender Based Violence.  Barkha has been running her own private practice and she is an expert consultant on POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment Law), POCSO (Protection of Children against Sexual Offences) and Mental Health with corporates and schools, around Pune city and across the country. Unalome is Barkha’s new brainchild where she has brought together psychologists and psychiatrists to provide holistic therapy and wellness to the community through individual, family and group therapy. Barkha is a Relational Cultural Therapist who does affect oriented work and specializes in trauma (DBT) and inner child therapy. Aks Foundation is her brainchild which she has carefully nurtured in order to provide pro-bono counselling and legal assistance to victims of Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence and bring about societal change through Gender based Community Education.

When not at Unalome, Barkha loves travelling solo, trying different cuisines, writing stand-up comedy material and of course spending time with Zimbardo, her golden retriever who is the love of her life.
