Lead, Crisis Line
Harpreet holds a Masters of Business Administration and comes with work experience in the IT sector prior to increasingly investing her time with various NGOs. It all began with Arushi, an NGO that works with and for people with disabilities, where she focussed on aiding the learning process of visually impaired children. She has a 2.5 years volunteering experience with Connecting NGO that revolves around suicide prevention and mental health. She underwent extensive training and manned their Distress Helpline and Email service – a highly empathetic space that offers emotional support. She is passionate about furthering the cause of mental health and emotional well-being and her strength lies in her MBAL (mindful based active listening) skills. She started out at Aks as a crisis line responder in December 2019. Now as a lead, she is responsible for the smooth functioning of our crisis line 24×7. In her leisure time she likes to curl up with a book or fit in a game of online scrabble with her daughter.
