Ashika Kamte
Ashika has completed her Master’s degree in Communications and has a specialization in journalism from Deakin University, Melbourne. Prior to this she had finished her Bachelor’s degree with a double Major in psychology and sociology. After her education in Bombay she worked with the Salaam Baalak Trust and headed a project that took her to Solapur to interview and observe the Pardhi community. This project raised a lot of funds for the betterment of the children of the community. Ashika then worked in the fragrance manufacturing business where she spent 10 years and is currently a director at the company Quintessence Fragrances Pvt. Ltd. Ashika is an animal lover and has been rescuing animals in need since she was a child. She loves spending her free time with them as she feels animals love unconditionally and that’s the best feeling to be around. Ashika joined the Aks Crisis Line as a volunteer and soon became passionate about the cause of helping victims of abuse. She decided that she would like to give most of her time to Aks as she’s met like-minded and strong individuals who aspire to make a genuine change in society and this to her is the inspiration she needs to keep moving forward.
