Shweta Luthra
After graduating with a B.A.LLB (Hons.) from the NUJS (Kolkata) in 2007,
Shweta joined Amarchand Mangaldas as a corporate lawyer. Two years later, she
decided to pursue her passion and studied for a M.Sc. in Criminology and
Criminal Justice (Research Methods) at the University of Oxford, followed by a
PhD in criminal procedure and mental health law at the University of Leicester.
She taught Principles of Criminal Law at Christ University (Bangalore) prior to
joining SASHA in 2014.
In affiliation with SASHA, Shweta has worked with nearly 50 organisations
pan India, and currently provides support to 23 organisations on matters of
sexual harassment and discrimination at the workplace. Her role as a legal
consultant requires her to assist her clients in achieving compliance as per
the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and
Redressal) Act 2013. Shweta has clients based all over India, with offices in more
than 10 cities. She covers an employee base of over 50,000 personnel. Shweta has
conducted over 500 awareness sessions on POSH, and redressed over 175 such
complaints as an external member on Internal Committees. She was also appointed
as a member of the Local Complaints Committee of Delhi (South District) by the
government, earlier this year.
Besides working in the POSH space, Shweta also provides support to
schools on matters of child safety and prevention of child sexual abuse. She
conducts sensitization sessions for students and faculty on these subjects, and
advises the school administration on how to deal with such complaints.
